Let me tell you that being able to increase your search engine rankings from deep within result pages to the number one spot is not easy. There are millions of other websites on the internet and you must obviously have some level of competition. If you are in a niche that has millions of other pages going for the same keyword, you will have a very hard time being able to hit that number one spot.
It is obvious and proven that the bulk of search engine users go for the top three results shown for any given query. As a search engine optimizer, you want to be able to rank at least on the first page, so that you can get some visibility. To build up your search engine rankings, you need to take things slow and follow the steps outlined below.
Being able to succeed in affiliate marketing or just being able to have that first page presence needs some research work. Identify your niche and choose selective keywords or search queries that relate to your niche. These keywords should have a low enough competition but a high enough search volume. If you can manage to find such a keyword, it would work extremely well in your favour. You will see several keywords with high levels of competition, so don’t get too discouraged. You will need to narrow down the results to find a few target queries that you could work with. Starting small will give you better chances of gaining top search engine rankings.
If you’ve found a great keyword with a few thousand searches per month, it would still be a great place to start at. Being able to have the number one spot for such a keyword is definitely easier than usual and it would at least give your some traffic to consider. Pick a few keywords and work around with it. Many people make the mistake of going for a lot of keywords and this just gets you nowhere. Once you’re able to get some noticeable search engine rankings, you can move onto new keywords.
In order to improve your rankings in the search engine, you need to make sure you have completely worked out all of the onsite SEO. If you are building links without proper onsite SEO, there really is no point in putting in the effort. The foundation for search engine rankings relies in the onsite optimization of your website. Without a proper foundation, can you really build a site with authority and quality rankings?.
When you are getting links to your website, make sure that you are using keyword based anchor texts. The anchor text is the actual phrase that is linked from a third party site. These external links should be from reputable sites with relevant content. Never build links from irrelevant sites just for the benefit of the free link. Once you start acquiring quality links to your website, search engines will pick up on this and will use it towards your search engine rankings.
